Food has always been my love language. Growing up, the kitchen was the heart of my world. Watching my grandmother cook her famous fried chicken, homemade banana pudding and everything in between. I started baking and cooking in elementary school, not because anyone told me to, but because it just felt right. Natural. Joyful.

That joy, however, took a hit when I lost my father at 15. What followed was a long stretch of grief, rebellion, and depression—seasons where the kitchen felt far away. But food has a way of calling us back. Through every turn in my life, especially over the last ten years in the service industry—from Pizza Hut server, to barista, and now general manager at a local coffee shop—I’ve learned that people crave more than just caffeine or calories. They crave connection. They crave comfort. They crave something different, but memorable.
